A: No. A special stroller is not required but stroller breaks and safety restraints MUST be in working order for the safety of your child. Double Strollers are welcome- the heavier the load, the better the workout, right?! Umbrella strollers are not recommended.
A: Just bring the necessities such as a bottle of water for you, beverage, or snack for kiddo, and a diaper bag of basics (we all know what can happen if we forget it!). A towel is also never a bad idea in case the grass is damp from the morning dew. Instructors provide all the necessary class materials, but occasionally we may ask you to bring a set of hand weights!
A: Dress for the weather, keeping in mind you might want to take off a layer after we get strolling! We all remember to make sure our baby is comfortable- make sure you're comfortable too! Please wear tennis/running shoes. This is a workout class, no flip flops!
A: We purposely keep our classes affordable so that coming to class isn't something else that you stress about. Each location does have it's own pricing due to our partnerships with different Parks and Recreation Department across the area. But on average, our classes range from $4-$7 per class.
A: Please check Facebook to confirm if class is still on. If it is storming or raining hard, class will more than likely be canceled or moved to later in the day if it looks like it will clear up. All weather related decisions will be made at a minimum of 30 minutes before class. Make your you're part of your class Strollers In Motion page to stay updated with specifics related to your class- ask your instructor for an invitation!
A: You WILL be able to and CAN participate in classes no matter what shape you are in! We understand things are different after you've had a baby- we're here for you. Modifications and variations will be offered to exercises if needed!
A: Check with your health care professional about when you are cleared for participating in Strollers In Motion classes.
A: We love older kids! And this is always our toughest question to answer. Older children (we suggest age 5+) are absolutely welcome to come to class if they are able to safely participate by walking or jogging alongside you. For safety, we ask that they do not ride bikes or scooters during class. Plus, it makes it difficult for the younger children in the stroller to understand that they can't get out and ride too!
A: We promise that they'll sit in the stroller for longer than you think during class- especially the toddlers! We strive to keep the class engaging for both the mom and child, but kids will be kids! Take care of things with your little one and jump back in when you can! It will take a few classes for your child to get used to being in the stroller throughout class. Remember to allow for this adjustment period and not to stress if your child is fussy at first. Trust us, we've all been there!
A: Although the class is designed for you to workout with your child, if circumstances arise and your child can't make it, that's okay! Come to class anyway! OR, we have a Women In Motion class that is a running based class with strength and core training that might interest you too if you have a child that cannot consistently join!
